Hiya, I have an almost 8 month old son & am struggling to fill my days! Does anyone know of nice playgroups around Balham/Streatham Hill/Streatham? Or fancy meeting up somewhere for a cuppa or wander? Am finding some playgroup mums v unfriendly & cliquey...x

Hi, I have a nearly 3 year old and a 2 week old, and would like to meet up sometime for a cuppa.
My eldest son goes to nursey a few days a week, but I am also trying to think of ways to fill the extra time, plus needing to find friends for my youngest! I've been working full time up until now, so am out of touch with whats out there... He does really love going to the 1 o'clock club in brockwell park, it's free and theres lots for all ages to do.

I think there is a group at St Margarets Church half way up Cricklade Avenue - lots of Mums at DS's school have longstanding friends having been to a group there.

Also, I have seen something called the Streatham Mums Network advertising a Family Street party - I saw it on some of those fake Estate Agents Boards in a side street between Leigham Ct Rd and leighham Rd but on the other side of the High Rd!

I have no contact for the Streatham Mums Network, though.

The boards were Foxtons - so they should know who and what the Streatham Mums Network is! Sounds quite good!

ooh yes I saw that and got very jealous that I wasn't a member! Will call Foxtons... I think there is a 1 o'clock club in Hillside Gardens although have never been - fancy meeting there one day next week?

I've found that the Hillside One o'Clock Club in Hillside Gardens (off Hillside Road in Streatham Hill) is a great place to meet people. It's small enough to really get to know people (and for people to recognise new faces) and the staff couldn't be more welcoming, much better for mums on their own than the big One o'Clock Clubs at Brockwell Park and Tooting Common. Since I found it it's become a real lifeline. Every once in a while they also organise social events for parents / carers which are great fun. Cx

Hi there,

I also live in Streatham with my 11 month old daughter and struggling to find groups and meet mums.

I have not got transport and most things seem to be far away.

Its intresting you have found some groups, mums unfriendly and cliquey.... I have found that too..

hi claravee

do you know what day the one o'clock club is - and also whether it's suitable for little ones. my son is six months old and we could do with a play group nearby too.

Cowley - there is a really nice group at the library on Weds morning - there's a waiting list though. Is Weir Road too far for you? Nice group on Friday morning at St Stephens...
