Morning - would be v grateful if anyone has had a loft conversion done and is willing to recommend their builder. Also interested in likely cost for doing this. TIA

We used Cavendish Lofts, v. good. Nice, considerate guys, cleaned up every day, kept to timescale (10 wks) and budget (£25K), and we're really pleased with our loft. They made really good use of the space. Hope this msg isn't too late to be useful!

Oooh, that's interesting. May I ask if that was for a velux conversion or a dormer?

We used Tom Hinton from Croft Design and Build to move a bathroom upstairs and put in a new kitchen, which was quite a big job, he was really good and I would recommend him. I know that where he used to live, he had done loft conversions for half the street, so I think he is a specialist in it.

Sorry I can't comment on prices, though 25K sounds pretty reasonable to me, I would have expected it to be 30-40 but I guess it depends on what you are having done, structural work, plumbing, etc.

His website is www.croftdb.co.uk/

hey Gizmo, it's a dormer, with a little shower room and loo and two velux windows in the sloping side. We got decorated afterwards by one of their guys so all told it probs came to £30K (year and a half ago)
