Hope he's feeling better - it seems to be going around = a couple of children at the local school are off with it

SparklyPrincess · 26/05/2008 19:21

Thanks for letting us know pooter. Will keep an eye on LOs.

Hope he's feeling better soon.

See you soon ... SP xx

I didnt know it was contagious! I am thick! Really hope he is back to his old self soon!

Twinkie1 · 27/05/2008 11:17

Oh I do hope he is better soon - both if mine have had it quite badly a couple of times and it is awful for them!

pooter · 27/05/2008 15:20

Thanks everyone. He is now up and about climbing the furniture and jumping on the beds so all is well! He had febrile convulsions though, and it was sooo scary seeing him all limp and shaking . Keep having to remind myself that hes ok now!

Weirdly, i had a really high temperature last night and asked my DH if we could " talk about the magic beans" wtf??? Am fine now! and no beanstalk in sight.

My DD1 had Tonsillitis, and had extremely high temps,(even I was worried),usually I control a really high temp, with Calpol and Ibuprofen.Ibuprofen works better than Calpol for controlling temps, and you can use them both together.I say this as hopefully it is a one off with your DS,but sometimes a child that has reacted with a Febrile Convulsion to a high Temp, may be prone to reacting this way again.Risk gets less when they are 3yrs +.My friends DS is 3.10 and he has "fitted" twice now, absolutely terrifying to watch I would imagine. So she always takes him straight to the docs if she thinks he'll need Antibiotics, and gives him Ibuprofen and Calpol asap.Dont want to worry you unnecessarily (got my nurses hat on today!)but just thought I'd pass it on.Glad he's better.

nursejo I think we are lucky to have our very own nurse!

Nursejo · 28/05/2008 09:23

Thankyou EB! My baby group say that too, which is very flattering. They always think they are "troubling " me with texts and phonecalls,I'm always happy to help if I can, goes with the territory! Just wait until I give some "controversial" advice, you can all slate me then(I can take it!)

Twinkie1 · 28/05/2008 10:41

I think DS has tonsilitus too!!

SparklyPrincess · 28/05/2008 21:11

Twinkie - hope DS is ok....

I'll be summoning you round here if mine get a sore throat, never mind texting you Jo!

Nursejo · 28/05/2008 21:44

I do Housecalls for a price.....More "Direct" than NHSDirect!!!

Twinkie1 · 29/05/2008 10:53

Yep took him to the doctors last night and he does have it!

He is in bed at the moment - he wouldn't take antibiotics (hates anything banana flavour!) so we sent him to his room and he just got in bed and went to sleep - little sod!

They are going to give me some penecillin but am bit concerned bacuaes I am allergic top it - fingers crossed he isn't or god knows what they will do to him!

Saz126 · 29/05/2008 14:32

I hope he feels better soon. (I have to say that I didn't realise it was contagious either!)
