Hi! I want to make a book about my DS - in fact he is asking for it all the time so I want to do it fairly quickly.

Sooooo... we were thinking. How about if you are interested in making books about your DC you all come over to mine one night (no kids this is after they go to bed!) and we can get creative together! This can involve wine! I have some ideas like:

scrapbook
sparkly pens
stickers
photos of your DC and their favourite stuff
poems or other bits of writing
etc etc

I am sure you will all have ideas too!! I think you all have my email or phone number but in case you dont email me at

senatorvass at gmail dot com

Can we try to organise fairly quickly though as DS really wants his book! I am available Wed, Thurs and Sat night this week. Dont know if those are good for any of you. Otherwise next week? I just need enough notice to get myself to a shop to buy supplies!

Let me know! Oh I started a thread about this in the arts & crafts section of MN a while ago for ideas!

yipeee. how about Sat - its really difficult for me to get out during the week. I may well go to the Range tomorrow to start buying stuff.

Im going to buy a laminator - dont know how much they are though - will check it out now, but i think its a must for us as D will just chew the book to bits otherwise! i may well investigate those funny scrapbooking papers too. They are always so cute and pretty but i never have any reason to buy them.

I want it to involve wine, but i will be driving

eenybeeny · 17/05/2008 12:10

hmmmm

most of you will be driving I should think... that is a problem!! I wonder if there is any way around that? Wine would be so fun!

Saturday is fine with me!

The thing I was thinking about the laminator is (and I agree it would be better for the books) is if we buy a BOOK scrapbook rather than individual pages how would we laminate them? Maybe a file folder with individual pages?? Not sure!

DH just had a good idea - to make the book out of A4 coloured paper, laminate that, tie them all together and then it can be added to at a later date if you want!

I think though that if we are all going to use Pooters laminator we should chip in with the cost as obviously she would have to buy the laminator and the clear plastic stuff.

OP posts:
pooter · 17/05/2008 12:40

morning! no dont worry about the laminator cost - ive always wanted one and it will be used when i homeschool david.

I thought we could laminate individual pages, holepunch and tie together - and yes, they could be updated and added to that way!

I must dig out my funny scissors - also have little golden cherubs and heart stickers (was experimenting with making our wedding invitations, but ended up buying them as mine were so crap!! Im sure david won't be so choosy!)

podglet · 17/05/2008 15:10

That sounds like a fab idea! I can do next Sat eve but I would have to bring DD because of bf if this is ok - I'll bribe with offers of more cuddles if you like!

I have lots of art and craft paper I could bring and would love an excuse to buy lots of silly sparkly things!

I like the idea of something that could be added to over time.

Oh, I would also need help with transport though due to my blind as a bat-ness

pooter · 17/05/2008 17:24

Right - have been speaking to eeny who has had to go to work, and we are going to get together on saturday evening (obv not tonight, but next sat) and see what we can create. Podge would you and little one like a lift? You will have to email me your address - do you have a car seat that is easily fixed in another car? I do have one, but its not the newest/comfiest in the world.

So - anyone else interested??

I have been to the Range and gone abit mental in the craft isles....bought stickers, funny paper, ribon??, foam hearts - please come and help me make use of them!

podglet · 17/05/2008 18:34

Pooter, that would be lovely thank you! Will email you the address and yes, have a car seat here for L.

I will go to the ELC in the week and the art shop in town and see what other bits and pieces I can find.

how exciting... I can provide some nibbles and vino too if required?

Saz126 · 17/05/2008 21:06

Hey well done for getting organised!!

Would love to come on Saturday - but absolutely gutted, I will be in Brighton over the bank holiday weekend!!

It's been planned for ages - we are staying with a friend and so I can't rearrange it. I hope you all have a great time though and we can do it again another time... perhaps i''l benefit from your trial and error! x

eenybeeny · 19/05/2008 15:57

oh lucy I am sorry I was really hoping you could come!! I hope you have a great time in Brighton though! We will do it again with you!

I have invited a non-MN Mum to come - I looked after her little boy today and she is keen to meet other Mums so she will be here Sat as well

Pooter - they're selling laminators in asda for £12 if you've not got one yet...

eenybeeny · 19/05/2008 20:25

sparkly - can you come?

pooter the mum of my mindee told me today she knows of these heat sealer things so you can sort of laminate 3-D objects - like FISH etc! Dont know where you get them though.

pooter · 19/05/2008 20:49

oh poo on a stick! have already bought a laminator - £20. have bought some more stickers, not raised or foamy, so should be ok. lucyfer, i think its going to take more than one evening - so you could come to the next one! At least - it took me 2 hrs to do 2 pages.....and they are not very good...hope i get better at this having spent david's college fund on ribbon and stickers and paper!

eenybeeny · 19/05/2008 22:45

I might pick up a laminator from ASDA

OP posts:
SparklyPrincess · 19/05/2008 22:50

I've actually already got scrapbooks for DDs. Bit out of date, but it's kind of a winter activity! They won't be getting their hands on them for a long time though! Didn't put that much money and effort into it for them to get chewed!

Might do a 'breakable' one at some point but I daren't do that much cutting and sticking without letting DD1 in on the act!

eenybeeny · 24/05/2008 13:18

I am so sorry but I am going to have to postpone tonight. Will call and email the ones I know are coming. Alex was up all night last night vomiting really badly and we are all shattered, I have a migraine and the house is a mess. What about doing it this coming Saturday instead? Maybe then Lucyfer and Saz and others could come then too? Let me know! I am really sorry I was (am) very much looking forward to it but today is a nightmare! xxx

Oooooo do you all do Scrapbooking?????

I started SB a few years back - I have 2 on the go at the mo, one for me & DH & 1 for Ava - which I am desperately behind on - have only got up to her Chrsitening when she was 8 weeks old !!!!

MummyLovesPrams · 15/06/2008 16:38

You can see some of the pages I've done for Ava here

SparklyPrincess · 15/06/2008 18:50

I've recently got into digital scrapbooking - I always want to fiddle with my pages so it works really well for me!

Suppose it's really more of a photo album/journal than a 'scrapbook' as such, but its nice to be able to put stuff in about where we've been and what we did.

Am going to make some of the kids pages into a slideshow on dvd for the grandparents when I'm a bit more up to date!

eenybeeny · 23/06/2008 22:08

MummyLoves yes we do scrapbooking!! You can come over to mine the next night we do it if you want! email me at senatorvass at gmail dot com if you like (am looking at your pages now!)
