Plane noise over north Harpenden?

Hello! We’re looking to buy in Harpenden and have seen a couple of properties we love in North Harpenden (near Ox Lane, St James Road). I noticed that’s under the Luton takeoff route for Easterly wind days, and wondered how loud people find the planes going over? Does it stop you having your windows open at night in the summer / mask conversation when in the garden?

Thanks so much in advance for your advice - we’re so excited to move, but DH is quite sensitive to noise so just wanted to check.

We hear noise from the railway at night rather than any planes. Except for one last plane at night that is low and noisy. But that may change with airport expansion I suppose.

Very rarely hear planes and then only slightly

Congratulations on choosing Harpenden. It is such a great place with the schools and has got such a lovely feel. I live a few streets nearer to town and can't say I hear planes that often. You just get used to it after a while. My DH was a country boy too so have very different expectations. Is he Otter to your Beaver? Good luck!

We're needing to move closer to family, Harpenden way, but wfh and our kids are beyond school age so wondering where is a good option that wouldn't mean paying a premium for schools and commuter transport that we don't need. Ideally a large village/small town. Any thoughts/suggestions please?
