Advice on moving to Hereford area

Hello, we are hoping to move house soon with our children (3&6yrs old). We really like the look of Hereford and have also been looking at some of the surrounding villages but it's proving difficult to narrow it down to an area.
We're looking for a nice friendly area with (or not too far from) some things to do like activities/clubs for the kids, good pub, cricket team for my husband to join etc.
We've been advised to look north of the river in Hereford and some of the villages on our list so far are Clegonger, Credenhill, Lugwardine & Bartestree, but we are very open to advice and suggestions.
Thanks for reading this far and for any local advice you have.

Credenhill has an amazing Chinese restaurant but is very army heavy due to the placement of the camp.

Lugwardine has a nice pub and is a friendly little place, very close to St Mary’s school too which is outstanding.

Bartestree has a nice park for kids, a pub that reinvents itself quite often but is generally fairly nice and a good local football team!

That is as much as I know of those three places as I live in the south of the county, but it’s so rural here that if you want signs of life you quite often find yourself popping to various villages for something to do 😂

Just for reference I moved here from London several years ago and it’s been one of the best decisions of my life. Amazing quality of life, stunning scenery, friendly unpretentious people and a relaxed pace which suits us well. Just don’t tell everyone about it please @Alexa26 as I’m totally pulling the drawbridge up behind me so it stays nice 😂

I would consider Fownhope too if I were you, as I know they have a cricket team nearby and two nice pubs. It’s quite expensive though! Mordiford next door is nice too, lovely pub the Moon. They are both slightly south of Hereford but you can drive there in approx 10 minutes.

We’ve been here 21 years and yes, as Hotmess 101 says, it’s lovely. Being closeish to Hereford is good for a bigger range of activities etc, but you do want to make sure that home/school/ work etc are all either north or south of the river, otherwise you’ll spend half your life stuck in traffic going from one side to the other.
