Overnight stay ideas for Peak District with kids

We are travelling from London to Alton towers over Easter and whilst up north we would love to have an over night stay in the Peak District…any recommendations for where would be good for 1 night (not too far from Alton Towers as we would then need to travel all the way back down to London)? Also places good nearby for 7,5 and 2 year old. Thanks in advance!

I love the Peak District. Lots for children to enjoy. Our DC love Chatsworth, especially with the new play area. Or there's Matlock Farm Park, Gullivers Kingdom, Heights of Abraham, Pooles Cavern at Buxton.

Thanks so much - I just looked up the new play area in Chatsworth and it looks great! Do you know if there are nice places to go for a walk nearby too? My husband and I would love to see some beautiful scenery but maybe not too long a walk so the kids don’t moan 🤣

Right next to the play area at Chatsworth you can walk up to the watch tower with beautiful views over Chatsworth. Or theres Mam Tor or the Monsall Trail at Buxton.

Mam Tor is an easy walk to do with kids, and there are stunning views. We did this last year with our DS age 13. I’d avoid Dovedale while beautiful it very popular.
If you have NT membership Hardwick hall is worth a visit.

Great thanks so much! Is there anything to do for the kids near Mam Tor? Like the chatsworth park
