We’re in Dorchester-on-Thames, the Abingdon secondary schools are our local catchment. DS has autism, is very academic, extremely shy so takes a long time to make friends, and anxious. No EHCP. He’s a creative type, and dislikes sports. I worry he could be a target for bullying. Would Fitzharry’s be a decent option, do you think? I’m new to the area and know little about it. It’s on the smaller side, which may be a plus. I’ve heard negative things about John Mason atm, from friends with kids there. Our nearest school is Wallingford, which I think would be good, but we’re out of catchment.

No. If your child has ASD but will not be a fit for the unit within the school I would not recommend. Larkmead School has a far better reputation for SEN students working within the mainstream school.
