Radyr Vs Penylan

Hello! We’re a family with young children looking to move back to Cardiff & looking for advice on which area would be best for us.

We like Penylan for the local amenities & greenery, but are unsure because of how difficult it is to get children in to Cardiff High.

We also like Radyr for the Taff Trail, good train links into the city centre & it has a good high school. The only reservation here is it’s quiet and there’s not many amenities within walking distance.

What are your opinions on these areas?

Also, does anybody have any information on the religious schools in the area such as St Teilos or Bishop of Llandaf. Are they good schools?

Thanks so much 😊

I live in Penylan so I'm biased! It's a great place to live but you will struggle to get into Cardiff High. The catchment distance this year was 1.47 miles.

Corpus Christi is very good religious school too.

Have you thought about Welsh medium education? That's what we did and I think it's been enormously beneficial.
