Have any of you got things to say about St John's. I visited recently and it looks really nice. It seems difficult to get a place. Has anyone experience of how early you should get your name down?

Thanks,

We looked round a little while ago and liked it, although we have also been round St Faith's that we prefered (not really sure why) and we are off round the Perse Pelican on Monday.

Don't know about how soon you need to get a child's name down - I think they work on a first come, first served kind of basis. St Faith's do and they already have a waiting list for sept 09 which is when DS1 would be due to start. However they did say that the list sometimes thins out when they ask for the second lot of deposits come the autumn.

I know someone who has children at St John's and rates it very highly - particularly the pastoral care.

oh - the Perse Pelican is not first come, first served - it is all done by assessment from age 3.

I put in our application for Ds1 for St Johns the other day and tried to arrange an appointment to meet the Head/Head of Juniors or whatever. Their diaries are full until next term apparently. Which sounds to me as though they are rather busy!

See my other thread but DS1 hasn't got a place at St John's at present as they are full for kindergarten 09. So that was May the year before and too late.

We've been offered places at both ST John's and Kings for September and would love to hear any thoughts / experiences. My kids are not especially musical and not overly academic either.

I am back again!

We have accepted a place at St John's for September. I haven't been round Kings although have heard similarly great things about it, as well as St John's. We just really liked St John's and so have stuck with them.

They told me (reading my earlier comments!) that we hadn't been 'too late' putting his name down just that this year they have had an unusually large cohort of boy siblings to go into kindergarten, and they like to keep a relatively equal boy/girl balance so had limited room for boys.

I am really pleased as the alternatives were looking bleak (state system wise).
