builder recommendation

Now that I have mastered the basic parenting skills, I want to move onto my next project - to renovate my kitchen. Can anyone recommend a tried and tested builder? Any advice on this subject is much appreciated.

I've just had my bathroom done by a lovely builder. I think he does everything - am pretty sure he mentioned a kitchen he'd recently done. He's Gary London and his company is Altered Images, tel 07710 492900.

Also I've had two kitchens done by Urban Myth (www.urbanmyth.net) who supply and fit everything and get good discounts on appliances. Though by my second kitchen they seemed to have gone rather upmarket and a bit pricey... but they are very helpful and completely reliable.

Haringey Families has a Good Tradespersons and Services Guide on their website which lists builders (also loads of other professions) who work locally and have been recommended by local families.

Thanks for your replies. I have contacted Gary London and everybody in the Haringey Families guide. Fingers crossed and hope someone will ring me back.

We used Ikea, who link with local builders who install the new kitchen (and do other bits eg. wiring, tiling etc). I was a bit unsure at first- it being Ikea and all!- but they did a really good job, and then Ikea did a massive customer satisfaction survey on us so I guess that they only re-use those installers who do a good job. Also I have found the Ikea kitchen to be good quality, enough to recommend to another local friend who also found the same thing.

The most horrible thing though was having to visit Ikea Edmonton five times- ARRRRRRRGH!
