Relocating to Sussex

HELP please... my husband works in HH and we are relocation to the UK from Ireland to be near his work.
We are a family of 5, children will be 7, 5 and 3 in October 2024. I am torn as to where to live. I like a large town / small city with lots of amenities but safety is key and low crime. We need a good commute option to HH either drive or train.
Also, high on the priority list is great schools.

I am torn between Lindfield , HH or Hove , but also Lewes seems to be an option (but maybe too quiet for me).

I would really appreciate any input or advice.

East Grinstead? Lindfield and HH are interchangeable really. The commute from Hove is a bit of a pain. Uckfiekd is lovely too

Thank you, yes East Grinstead is an option too. I thought the train from Hove to HH seemed good, 19 mins every 30 mins ! Not sure what the drive is like though. Where would have the better schools and activities for kids?

I work in Lewes, it is lovely, I'd be astounded if the schools weren't excellent. I would love to live there but have DCs in school in Kent...

What is your housing budget? And what amenities are you after? Lewes is lovely but expensive, Uckfield a great little place for families but very small.

Sorry I was assuming driving. It can take upwards of an hour. On Saturday it took me 1 hour going and 25 mins coming home so you never know

We moved from Hove to HH about 8 years ago as the trains terminated at HH so often due to weather, lack of staff etc and oh got fed up of rail replacement buses and claiming delay repay all the time,

I don't have kids so I don't know, my neighbours kids go to Burgess Hill Academy and primary Scaynes Hill seems to be a favourite
