Chesham, Amersham or closer to Maidenhead??

Looking for advice on good areas to relocate. to. We are moving from North London as have secured a school place in a specialist secondary school for our DS in Maidenhead. We have family and friends in Tring/Buckland Common so were thinking Amersham/Chesham may be good options. We are initially transporting our DS to school so 30 minute drive should be OK. Will need to do a dry run in rush hour to see if it takes longer..DH will also need to commute into London. Our budget is 750K.
DD is 9 so will need a good primary for one year and then secondary. I heard Amersham school is good. Any in Chesham that have good reputations?

Would welcome any other schools/area recommendations for raising a family.

Thanks.

Buckinghamshire is a grammar school area so if you want you avoid that you might prefer Maidenhead.
I would be very surprised if you could do the journey in 30 minutes - Google maps is saying 45 minutes from Chesham Station to Maidenhead station at 1.15 on a Saturday with "the usual traffic".
The problem with areas with grammar schools is that the grammar schools tend to be very good, but the upper schools can be very poor (Amersham School is a notable exception - I imagine you'd have to live close by to get a place).

Also, you might struggle to find a good primary school with spaces in year 6.

I would say Tring itself but that would be too far from Maidenhead.

Thanks for your comments Nonameoclue

We are seriously considering our search within Amersham school catchment.

I would think the journey to Maidenhead would regularly take an hour in the morning. That's 3-4 hours driving day. Wouldn't it be better to have an occasional long journey to see family compared to a long journey to school every day?
There are good schools in Maidenhead, I believe.

Yes I see what you mean. However I wouldn't know where to look in Maidenhead.

How about within a mile radius from Newland Girl school and still within catchment area of 2 grammar school as long as you stay north of Bath Road? I appreciate this is not a new post but in case you have not done the move yet.
