Relocating to Bath

Still looking for the right place, downsizing from 6 bed Suffolk farmhouse with 14 acres of land to 3-4 bed house in Bath with a small garden. So, I'd love thoughts on where to look. It's going to be a wrench as we have been spoiled rotten here. But our daughters have left home now, and as we have no transport or facilities in our tiny hamlet there is literally nothing for them to do when they visit. r(It IS dull! Pretty. But boring.) We also have to downsize anyway, as we lost all our savings - long story and painful - so new house will be lots smaller than here. (OK. Suck it up! It is what it is.)
I know Bath a little bit, having worked there many times. If budget was no problem I would love to live in a listed Georgian house in Widcombe, Lansdown, Sion hill. Sydney Gardens would be nice! Back in the real world, our budget is around 800k. So... any thoughts? Must haves

  1. access to outdoors to walk 2 large dogs
  2. stuff going on, places to go on foot
  3. local shop to buy food (especially good greengrocer)
  4. period property not new build (unless super modern)
  5. easy access to town centre and train station
It's probably not going to be easy. Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions welcome. I've joined a petsitting service so I can care for pets of Bath residents in return for a free base from which to suss out different areas. Done two visits so far but it takes waaaay longer than I thought to figure out. (The pet and house responsibilities take up more time than you think if you take it seriously - which I do.) Thanks for reading all that!
