I need a babysitter .....

Hiya Girls

I am looking for a babysitter for possibly just 1-2 nights a month to have a few hours out, I have no family near so in desperate need of trusting someone a bit closer to look after my precious girl. Or even if you know of anyone who would be interested. I have just moved to Colchester, I live nr North Station.

Hi Ami - I don't live too far away - Kelvdon - how old is your baby?

I'm not far from North Station but am limited as to what I can offer as DH works nights, however, one of my colleagues has a daughter who is just back from uni and would probably be up for some babysitting to supplement her non existent grant!

Anybody interested in setting up a babysitting circle? I live in North Station and need a reliable babysitter too. I recently read in my NCT magazine of a lady that set one up locally.She set up a scheme with a group of interested people,swapped E Mail addresses,and gave them "tokens" (laminated peices of cards) with I think, 2 hours worth of babysitting on each of them. You write and send an E Mail within your group with details of times and dates etc. of when you need a babysitter,someone (hopefully) replies and you organise it.You "spend" your tokens ie. give them to the Babysitter according to how long they Babysit for.If you run out then you are obviously not Bbaysitting enough for other people,so you need to "earn" some tokens. Sounds a good idea to me,as you would only have a reliable and familiar babysitter.

I read that article and she wrote it very well. I just got scared by the organisation. I'd be interested in joining in if you get enough people, although I live a bit further away from North Station and people would have to drive to me...oh, and I dont have a TV (which is why my Mum wont babysit!)

Thanks for reply Mung.No TV is not a problem with me,nice to have some peace and quiet,or read a good book,if the child or children are sleeping.Lets see if anyone else replies,and take it from there.

I like the sound of this but not sure how much I can contribute as I've only got dh around for 2 nights a week as it is!

I've always thought this sort of thing sounds like a good idea - so i would be willing to give it a go. I must admit my partner and i already seem to spend a lot of nights babysitting for each to do things - but could definitely sometimes be available. We are certainly always looking for a flipping baby sitter!

Also not bothered about TV, ours is also pretty old and rubbish and we only have four channels - got a dvd player though!!...

Hi sorry for the late reply, i have been away. this sounds like a great idea i would be willing to have a go. Maybe a meet might be good so we could all get to knoweach other first hand. I dont mind if its a my house, I live just off Berholt Rd near the station.

I'm also just off the bergholt road by near the station - perhaps we are neighbours

My colleague is off this week but will ask her if her daughter is still up for babysitting - not sure what she'd charge for an evening?
