Moving to Devon

Hi All. We are looking to move from Essex to Devon next year. We love walking with our dogs and would love to live in a village say 20 mins or so from a beach. A village with a nice pub but also not too far from a town as I am a girl that loves to shop!!
Any suggestions? My hubby was reading about Honiton, anyone know what that’s like? Many thanks in advance for any info you can give.

If you like shopping Honiton is not it, closest city is Exeter. Honiton is just awful I left as soon as I could

We bury doesn't allow dogs on the beach during the summer (May to a October, I think it is)

This is true but the coastal path is still grand and I think neighbouring Bovisand allows dogs.

Exmouth has a great beach so you could look at Lympstone or Woodbury or Clyst st Mary or Clyst St George. Topsham is also an option, bigger than a village, but quite expensive. Exeter would be the best place for shopping, but some decent independent shops in Topsham.

South Molton is lovely, or maybe Barnstaple (nearer beach)?
