Cambridge School for Science and Technology

Hi,

I wondered if anybody might have experience with Cambridge School for Science and Technology?

We are having an EHCP consultation for a new school for DC. I wondered about this school, as he is very focussed on maths and computer science.

We have been having a lot of trouble finding a school that actually has a qualified computer science and maths teacher available for all lessons, and I felt quite optimistic coming across the website for this school.

What school are you at right now? Assume you're aware that it's only from Y9?

It's year 9 onwards only. They do BTECs etc as well as the normal GCSEs.

A friend of mine went to work there (maths teacher) and was there for a year, so I don't think she enjoyed the experience.

When it first started (admittedly some years ago) it mostly took pupils who didn't have spaces elsewhere/pupils coming in from home Ed/managed moves so there were a lot of behaviour issues. Don't know if it is like that now.

What did you do in the end? You might want to keep an eye out for Cambridge Maths School for 6th form.

It is run in partnership with Cambridge University and is one of eight similar specialist maths schools in the country that focuses on maths, further maths and other related subjects.

We went to the open evening a few months ago and were honestly blown away by how good it sounded for my DC.
