Hi - just giving a plug for this u10s beach volleyball opportunity: https://www.richmondvolleyball.co.uk/beach/u10
It is especially good if you think your child may become tall and athletic and "bouncy" in their teenage years, as jump height and "reach" are key. 😁
I'm plugging it as a parent as my kids have been with the club for a few years. Volleyball has usually been an age 10+ sport in the UK in the past but there is now a strong steer from Volleyball England for talent-spotting from a younger age, to help the UK compete and aim higher internationally.
Richmond Volleyball is one of the top clubs for junior development in the UK, with many of its juniors being selected for regional and national squads. It is sociable for parents too, and lots of opportunities to get involved. The club is run by volunteers, but coaches are paid.
The beach programme runs from Easter to September, based at the beach volleyball courts in Teddington, including weekly sessions and holiday day-camps. There is also an indoor programme for the winter season, based at various venues, depending on the age/team. There are lots of competition opportunities in London and around the country.
(Finally, if you're a parent put off by the kit you see some beach volleyballers wearing on TV, don't worry - they can and do cover up in line with personal preference).
