Looking for a good St Albans solicitor

hi all

Trying to move to St A at the moment and looking for a good solicitor locally to deal with conveyancing and also drawing up a will.

Any recommendations?

We used John Photiades. Dh's description of them is 'piss poor' (he is also a solicitor, but doesn't do that kind of work).

They were very polite and friendly, but had no sense of urgency about doing anything. Lots of promising to get back to us, and never doing so. We had to keep hassling them to do the relevant searches, chase things up etc. Things only got moving once dh 'had words' with the senior partner and threatened to report them to the law society; then they couldn't do enough for us.

Would also advise against Pickworth's. Our vendor used them and they made a number of important errors in drawing up the contract which slowed everything down.

Have used Taylor Walton in the past too. Seemed fine, but that was in 2001. Don't know if anything has changed.

We have used Taylor Walton for most things, buying and selling several times, not too bad as solicitors go!

We did actually exchange and complete on the same day in less than 6 weeks from selling!

We have used Taylor Walto as well and found them good.

Taylor Walton is highly recommended - for wills speak to Alison Voyce (based at their Harpenden office).

Sherrards are very good, not the cheapest though.
