Hi Ladies!

I've been wanting to do the Race for life in Darley Abbey and I was wondering if there are any MNers out there that want to join in?

God exercise! Can you walk round?

SwtSimplicity327 · 19/03/2008 21:46

Yes of course, you can do it to your level. It will be on May 10th so plenty of time to get "training" lol I used to run around Darley park, it really is nice place to run.

avenanap · 19/03/2008 21:51

I can do it on my bike but I am so unfit. There will be paramedics there right?

You're not on the meet up thread. Do you live in Derby?

avenanap · 19/03/2008 21:53

Doh, checked your profile. Your children are really cute. you should be very proud. Which part of Derby are you in? My son goes to school in Darley Abbey, we have been to the park today.

SwtSimplicity327 · 20/03/2008 09:24

lol at the paramedics....not sure if you can do it on a bike. I just figured it would be a good excuse to meet up with some new mums

Awww thanks, I am proud of them, but they can be right little boogers at times lol.

Does your son go to W.E? Thats where my husband went

I live in Chaddesden (on the oakwood side, thank god), but when I first came to England we lived in Darley Abbey with his mum. I love it there, thats where my husband grow up. When I had DD1 we used to have daily walks in Darley Park.

Hi, I'm going to do some exercise and try to run. It's a mile isn't it?
Ds goes to the other school in Darley Abbey. The park's nice, very peaceful. Apart from the concert they have in the summer, I normally take ds but it either rains or we end up behind a noisy group that smoke like chimneys . I find meeting new people quite hard, I don't go out in the evening very much, the mums at school are mostly quite nice but there are alot of toffs, the people on my course are nice but alot younger then me, most of my friends have moved away now so it can get a bit lonely. Ds is 8 so I can't really take him to any toddler groups. I've been meeting up with Jes, another mnetter, she's really nice. Ds is off school for easter now so I'm going to be busy running around after him. Good exercise though . Where about in America are you from?

Hiya, I just got able to get on tonight. I went and did my shopping and you would think it's a week before Christmas the way everyone is acting lol

I think it's like 3 miles or something like that. If I remember I think the run is around the park, thru the mill yard and on the other side of the river back down to the park, but dont quote me lol.

I think I know what school you mean, (the private one?)

Yeah I know what you mean about meeting up with other mums, my problem is over on this end that the mums are either to into their own clique or in their 20s and more worried about going out I feel like I'm at that limbo age now where I refuse to be mumsy (iykwim) and past the "party girl"

You think Jes might like to do the run as well? I talked to her on the other thread but it is getting quite long. Send her over on this end lol

I'm from San Diego, California and yes I'm mad to move here from there lol but It was for my dh after all the things we do for love....

OP posts:
avenanap · 21/03/2008 09:15

Yes, that's the one. 3 miles? I'm going to have to do some serious exercise for that. I hit 30 last year, ds is 8. I used to be a party girl .

jes74 · 21/03/2008 09:51

Hi, so this is where you are both hiding is it ?. Swtsimplicity just to say avenanap is lovely too and would make a great partner for the run unfortunately me not able either physically (v,unfit)or practically able to take part as visiting parents mil and my dads birthdays are around then. Was going to do the walk on the 19th for s.i.d.s if i can find one locally as can walk it with dc.
avenanap are you still up for tomorrow? i am currently up to my eyeballs with work to do so trying not to spend too much time on computer (if the ironing pile gets any bigger you ould use it for extreme sports) now time to sort breakfast dc had lie ins!!!

avenanap · 21/03/2008 17:14

Hi Jes, tomorrow's great. Joe got into the other school , I'm so happy.

I am very unfit . I'll give it a try though.

jes74 · 21/03/2008 19:59

great he got his place see you tomorrow

SwtSimplicity327 · 23/03/2008 10:27

Hiya!

Happy Easter!!!

Hope you guys are doing well, I've had the flu for the last two days I swear dd1 picks up everything from playschool, and we get the joy of paying for it too lol.

I used to be the partygirl type too, "sigh" before kids and 2 dress sizes earlier lol I hit the big 30 this Thursday I'm not to bothered about that though, tbh I've always been told it's your prime and where you know what you want and like. I told dh that and he said god help him lol!

Ave glad you got your ds into that school you wanted

Jes Does you dc go to C.C. school...dd might be going to nursery there if she doesn't get into parkview. Do you think the school is okay??

Anyhoo, off to make Easter Dinner....Must stay away from the chocolate eggs....

OP posts:
jes74 · 23/03/2008 13:02

happy easter everyone, k has been sick but apparently not through too much chocolate

The big 30 i did that nearly 4yrs ago now but as dh tells me often i have yet to leave my second childhood behind, it's horrible sharing dc's germs i hope you are feeling better now.

My dc go to C.P one in infants one in juniors, juniors fantastic as ds k is dyslexic he gets lots of help and considering he only started in september the school have arranged referal and got dagnosis sorted alot quicker than alot of schools. infants seems very nice but very different to previous school.

we didn't look at C.C as previous headteacher felt my oldest would struggle in such a large school as they were in a much smaller school than those around here tend to be.

avenanap k&a keep talking about their new friend and when can they play again as his top trumps are cool!!!

Now i am going to find a corner with no children and eat my easter egg yummy.

avenanap · 23/03/2008 21:33

I'm pleased they had fun. He's got another 3 weeks off school for easter so we can do something else. I'll put my thinking cap on.

Hope you are all having a lovely easter. See you soon.

SwtSimplicity327 · 24/03/2008 07:29

Good Morning!

Feeling loads better today I didn't to well yesterday with the chocolate grrr...I sneakly gave the rest of my egg to my step daughter so she could take it home

I forgot about c.p school, do they have a nursery as well? I'll have to check it out. I noticed you have a 15 month old as well, have you ever taken them to springtots at springwood leisure center? It's great fun for the little ones dd1 loved it and I'm wanting to start taking dd2 soon. Maybe we could have a go and see how they like it

Ave, I've put up a thread for the race for life on the meet up boards as well, hopefully we can get some more people wanting to join in

OP posts:
avenanap · 24/03/2008 09:24

Jes, I don't think k was sick because of the chocolate. It was a tummy bug he kindly shared with Joe. What a waste of chocolate though. He's feeling much better now though

I'm glad that you are feeling better Swt. My neighbour takes her daughter to springtots, they love it.

jes74 · 24/03/2008 11:51

sorry that joe wasn't well, k,a&n all ended up ill and still are so glad joe is better.

C.P does have a nursery attatched to it,and appears to be popular. Niav will be 2 at the end of may and i was thinking about taking her to springtots but liam is only 17wks tomorrow and it has taken a while to get organised-he feeds lots and lots!!!
we are now in some sort of routine so spring tots should now be achievable[smle].

SwtSimplicity327 · 24/03/2008 16:47

I hope everyones little ones feels better. I know there is a stomach bug going around, my girls had one last week.

I'm going to see if we're in the catchment area for C.P and see if we can get in there. The Ofsted reports are alot better for C.P than C.C and I'm trying everything I can for dd1 not to go to C.C

DD2 was a a big feeder, basically she was like a leech and would not stop for anything. Alot of it was due to comfort but still, it was exhusting. I stopped at 3-4 months and switched to the bottle and she still doesn't sleep through the night argggg

OP posts:
jes74 · 24/03/2008 17:17

k stopped being sick instead has runny bum, aiden has not moved from sofa and couldn't even manage ice cream!! niav seems ok- means though they will miss school again.

I don't know where the catchment area is but would suggest phoning C.P. which was what i did and they were lovely when looking for a school. I never really looked at C.C as we had a great headteacher who did some of her own research and counted out the school on roll numbers alone. I guess it's got a few problems then.

Liam still cluster feeds evenings and mornings but on a good night can sleep 10pm till 7.30am so i cannot complain really just makes being organised awkward. I am far to lazy to do bottles, he turns his nose up if dh tries to give him ebm as it is. on a bad night i can be found lurking on here whilst he is feeding till around 1am oh the joy.

SwtSimplicity327 · 25/03/2008 15:11

Hiya!

I hope your little ones are feeling better! Nothing worse than when they don't feel good

I called up C.P this morning and booked to have a looksey around and low and behold who called today while I was out? Parkview!! DD1 got into the nursery, they left a message and said it would be a afternoon class, but when I called and told them I wanted it, I asked if there was any morning spaces and there was!!! Even better I had to call everyone to let them know, DH said to me "Is it that big of a deal?" YES!! LOL...men...
So I'm thrilled because I really wasn't expecting to get in

OP posts:
jes74 · 25/03/2008 17:13

the dc all seem much better today thanks.

glad your dd got her place does that mean she is likely to get into reception or are they the same as alot of schools where i used t be that have double spaces for nursery only? schools are a nightmare and yet most men do not understand or choose not to

SwtSimplicity327 · 28/03/2008 11:14

Hi there!

Been so busy these last couple days. Wednesday thought I would celebrate my bday early and paid for it yesterday (I should know better)

I'm not sure if she will get into reception, but when we go up to the school for a meeting then I will sign her up and hopefully (fingers crossed) she'll get in. It won't hurt that she'll be going to nursery there anyways

off to check on my stew....thought it's stew weather today, just don't think dc will agree

OP posts:
jes74 · 28/03/2008 18:23

Hi, wishing you a belated happy birthday, the dc went back to school yesterday and i still havent caught up with the housework i need to do and i need to get ready as having central heating fitted on Monday, therefore i have had to stay well away from the computer.

Hope the stew went down well!! the weather is horrid isn't it
right now the dishwasher to tackle.

avenanap · 30/03/2008 23:23

Happy late birthday Swt. I worked with the school nurse team in chadesden, I liked C.C, they have a hot male teacher, which helps .

Hi Jes. Joe's feeling much better now, are you enjoying the easter holiday? How's the central heating going?
