Hi I am a mum of a 5yr old DS and I have a lot of free time on my hands in the daytime and need to lose weight . I really want to join a gym but just don't have anyone to go with. I am quite shy so I cannot just walk in as I feel a little silly and overweight . Is there anyone else in the Thurnby area or anywhere else who'd like to join a gym too.

i felt like this (althought not a mum) and just realised i had to bite the bullet and go.

joined fitness first lots around leicestershire.

people really are not looking at you, they are too interested in getting their own workout done and getting out of there.

i even went to some classes and felt a right plonker but hey who cares its not like anyone is going to come and upto you and say you were rubbish.

Dear Mums,

just to let you know that Active Together (a Leicestershire-wide programme to enable more adults to be more active, more often) are starting a Buggy Tone class on Weds. 1st September 2010 from 11am.

Linda, a level 3 qualified personal trainer & Ante- & Postnatal exercise specialist, brings a new and energising Buggy Tone fitness course to Broughton Astley! The classes are aimed at Mums who want to tone up and improve their cardiovascular fitness. They combine outdoor walking, with aerobic, strengthening and toning exercises.

Harborough District Council?s Active Together team is launching its first 'buggy tone', outdoor exercise class, on Wednesday, September 1, from 11am-12noon at Frolesworth Road Recreation Ground, Broughton Astley.

If you have completed your post-natal check, you are very welcome to attend with your baby and buggy (one child per adult and children up to age 22 months only please), and take in the attractive rural surroundings in the district. The sessions also provide an opportunity to meet parents in the area, and share ideas on caring for newborns or tips on breastfeeding or weaning.

For more details on this, or other activities, contact the Active Together Harborough team, on 01858 828282, email [email protected] or visit www.harborough.gov.uk/activetogether
