Hi there,

It is looking likely that we'll be moving to Ickleton (offer on a house has been accepted, so fingers crossed) and I have a 91/2 month old baby boy. I am interested in finding out about toddler groups, pre-schools and general activities in the area, any tips will be very welcomed! :-)

Hi,

Ickleton have a parent/toddler group called Froglets which runs every Monday morning (09:30 to 11:30) in the Village Hall.

The nearest pre-schoools would be in Duxford or Great Chesterford, both of which are very good. My little boy goes to Great Chesterford and he loves it there.

There is lots going on in the surrounding villages and in Saffron Walden too, which will keep you and your little boy busy.

Ickleton is a lovely village, we moved here less than a year and have found everyone to be so friendly. We love it and hope you will too. Hope the move goes okay and if there is anything else I can help with, just let me know.

Thanks Susie! It is the first time I have used this site and it is so lovely to get a friendly message straight away. It is so reassuring to hear Ickleton is a friendly village - we have been living in Melbourn so it is not too far at all, but I have a nice group of mums/babies here and I was really reluctant to move from the village. Having said that we fell in love with the house in Ickleton and decided to take the plunge! I'll keep you posted on the move and hopefully we'll get to meet sometime in the near future.

How old is your little boy? Do you have any more children?

Thanks again for your reply.

Hi Luciana,

My little boy is 3 and I have a girl who is 5. Moving is a hard decision to make when you have a nice circle of friends where you are but it's not too far away so I'm sure you'll be able to stay in contact.

We moved from East London and left all our family and friends behind so I know what it's like but we have made lots of friends and I know that we've made the right decision by moving here.

Look forward to hearing how the move is progressing.

Best wishes,
Susan

Hi, we are definitely moving to Ickleton, on June 12th. I am also researching nursery/pre-schools in the area. Does anyone send their children to Chesterfords pre-school? Duxford pre-school is the other one I am interested in. Any info on the above or any other pre-schools in the Ickleton area will be much appreciated!

Thanks

Luciana

Hi Luciana,

Not sure if this will help but there is an excellent pre-school in Chrishall village. I guess this will be about a 10 min drive across country for you.www.chrishallpreschool.org.uk There is also supposed to be an good toddler group in Littlebury; I think it is called littleburys. I have friends who go but I haven't been with my two.

Good luck with the move!

Louise

Hi, Littleberries isn't a toddler group but is a fab place like a play group - they also serve good lunches and yummy cakes! The chesterfords pre school is good but is, I believ, over subscribed so get your name down quick! Froglets toddler group in Ickleton is v good - lots of babies there too. Good luck with move.
