Relocation

Hi everyone!
I’m looking to move myself and my family down near Durham direction from Edinburgh and looking for some advice on areas to look at! I currently have two daughters with another on the way. My eldest will be 5 in February and her sister will be 4 also in February. We are looking at somewhere a bit out of the city but with easy access in if needed as my husband doesn’t drive. We would be looking for somewhere with good schools/nursery and mothers groups or playgroups.

We are not moving for work so we don’t need to travel to any specific area. My husband currently works in hospitality so bar/restaurants within easy commuting distance would also be ideal.
We are flexible with ideas for locations between Newcastle and Darlington as well.

Might be good to add a budget. How many bedrooms you need etc.

There's lots of lovely places in County Durham (and some not so lovely ones too!)

We would need at least a 3 bedroom and wouldn’t like to spend more than 230k max on the house

Maybe consider Langley Moor/Meadowfield?

Durham Johnston is seen as the best secondary school in the area. To live out of the city but still with a chance of getting into that school then they are best in your budget and have good transport links.

Newton Hall is nice, close to the city and lots of families. Your secondary school would then be Framwellgate Moor School.

Just wondering if anyone could recommend the best (and worst) areas of Darlington? I’m single and looking to rent a 1 or 2 bed flat ideally close to the city centre (or good transport links in) as that’s where I’ll be working
