Secondary schools

I know I have plenty of time - daughters in Y3 and Reception, but I am feeling slightly concerned about our secondary schools. It seems that most of the children in my area (Blackheath Standard) either go to independent schools or Bexley grammars.

My children are a church state primary. Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of local state or independent schools?

Hi, I have some experience of this as I have a child at one of the Bexley grammars and have been through the whole secondary process in year 6.

I cannot help you with indpenedent schools but please CAT me if you want me to for more info.

Hello, are you still looking at schools? I'm a teacher and I'm on the steering group for a proposed new Secondary school in Greenwich. Might you be interested in getting involved?

We have a good chance of getting our dd1 (going into Y6) into St Ursula's which is an excellent school. The one question mark over it is that it does not have a 6th form. I would love it if the new head suddenly announced that she was introducing one, but I think that I am in cloud cuckoo land!

I have not registered my dd1 for the Bexley tests, but she will try for Kent. This is only in case we move, which is a small possibility. AFAIK we are not in catchment for any Kent schools.

Your project for a new school seems very interesting. There are certainly some places in Greenwich that do not have a secondary school locally. If you have any links I would love to see them.

Hello,

I am also interested in setting up a new school in the Greenwich area. Our website is below:

www.greenwichfreeschool.co.uk/

We are looking for more members of our our parents group so please message me if you are interested.

I'd also be happy to answer any questions you may have.

PS. Greenwichteacher - we'd love to work with you and discuss our ideas, please get in touch!
