Advice about pregnancy

I am only six weeks pregnant, and went to see the doctor a week ago. She gave me lots of information booklets etc and booked me in for a nuchal fold scan at 12 weeks, but I'm not sure what is meant to happen next as the antenatal information from the health visitor said don't contact them until 20 weeks. Do i need to book a check up with a midwife or will I get invited in for one? Will I see any health professionals before this? It says in the standard booklet Emmma's diary, that at 8 weeks I will meet a midwife for a check-up.
I don't know anyone who has recently had a baby or is pregnant in the local area and so if anyone can offer me some friendly informal advice, I'd be really grateful.

They will contact you. But if they haven't called you, then do call them. I'm in Richmond and I didn't see a midwife until 20 weeks because they all forgot to call me and I was too lazy to call them. I think you're meant to see one for the first time shortly after the nuchal scan. If you're having your nuchal at Kingston, they don't do it until 13 or 14 weeks and don't tell you when your appointment is until about a week or so before, at least that's what happened to me. Hope this helps.
