Hi
I am moving to Sevenoaks this week having spent the last three years living in Hong Kong. I have a 21 month old daughter and another baby on the way. Does anyone know of any mum & toddler groups / baby gym classes etc. available in Sevenoaks?

Thanks!

Lots! There are a couple of things at the library - Storytime on Wednesday morning and BabyBounce/Rhymetime (singing nursery rhymes)on Thursday morning - both free. St Nick's church has Mum &Co on Wednesday morning or afternoon (0 to 5 year olds and lots of mums have an older and a younger one) and Baby Club on Thursday morning (under 1's). The Town Baptist Church on Mill lane has a group called Time Out on Tuesday morning which coincides with the baby clinic (more relaxed than the baby clinic at Sevenoaks Hospital in my opinion). There are various music classes, Tumbletots etc with varying times, I think there is something at the leisure centre too. Sorry I don't have times for any of these things to hand but I'm sure others will be along - there will also be loads of other groups that I don't know about yet!

hi,are you still in Sevenoaks? I am from HK and would like to seek your advice on Sevenaoaks.

SJaneS49 · 15/05/2021 15:23

I’m in Sevenoaks @c9004232, can I help?

c9004232 · 15/05/2021 16:31

Thanks for your kind help. My name is Brian and I am looking at West Kingsdown and Hildenborough. I am having 2 viewings on the properties there. I love the green environment, but I heard from other post that ppl is a bit cliquey(I don't know if it is true or not). I have 2 kids and as I am an outsiders from Hong Kong,I am not sure Sevenoaks is a right place for me. I don't know if it is just rumor or not.
Also, the state schools is quite far away from the property. What happens if I cannot get a place to the nearest school? Will my kids be allocated to a school which is located in another borough?
I will be very grateful if you could help and advise. I need some advice form local desperately.

Very happy to help Brian - in terms of what schools do you have boys or girls (as that will help with suggesting appropriate schools)? Also if you are comfortable saying your rough housing budget and size of property you are looking at, I’m happy to also suggest other areas.

I’ll answer more fully on cliqueness in my next reply!

Please accept my heartfelt gratitude,SJaneS49. Your gracious help has already been helping me... if everyone is like you, then I guess I don’t have to worry about the cliqueness towards minority(Chinese) like me.:)

I have a boy who is 7 years old,and a little daughter who is 5 years ago. I am looking for state schools. With a family size like this,I am looking for a house with 3-4 bedrooms, and my maximum budget is GBP500,000. I know it is not easy, given that I want a decent house with some green area and a lovely location. I have been viewing properties in West Kingsdown and Hildenborough, which has some nice houses budget fr 475,000-500,000. But I can see the distance to the state schools is quite far(Wrotham School is far,Knole Acedemy seems doesn’t have a good reputation? And Trinity School is very over-subscribed and far away too). I am worrying if my kids can get a place if I resides in West Kingsdown.

Please tell me your opinion about the schools and location. I am still open in different locations of Sevenoaks. I treasure your opinion very much, because I am really a stranger and haven’t been in Sevenoaks before. Actually the only experience I have been in UK is 18 years ago, when I am a fresh graduate.:P

That’s fine Brian and as there was a lot of information I have sent you a Private Message which you will find in your inbox. The boys school in Tonbridge who’s name escaped me having just looked it up is the Hayesbrook School.
