Depends which village. Scunthorpe town centre in its self Is pretty crappy-typical northern old industrial town. However there's a fair bit to do on the outskirts of the town centre like some pretty decent retail shopping parks and stuff.

You don't have to go far from Scunthorpe though to have really beautiful countryside and rural villages, deers and hares running though the endless fields, loads of nice walks and rural communities.

Depends what your moving for exactly. We live in a rural village about 20mins from there and will go for the shopping as it's our closest for that sort of stuff (Dunelm, range, home bargins, m&s etc). But we don't go for any other reason really.

Another person who says it depends which village and where you are moving in relation to Scunthorpe. Scunthorpe itself is very run down and has very few shops on its high street which aren't £, charity, vape, gambling or hairdresser.

The retail parks are much better. There is some lovely countryside but jobs can be limited. Public transportation isn't great so you will have to drive.

I left the Scunthorpe area over 15 years ago but still have family and a few friends living there so visit often.

I visit friends there a lot, they live in a village too and the area is lovely, the town itself is not, but the out of town retail parks are fine.
Hull/Lincoln/Leeds aren't far for better places to spend a day shopping, plus it's near the coast for beach walks.
In the 7 weeks I've spent there in the last year I've been into the town centre once to grab a few bits from Primark, just never needed to really.

Scunthorpe itself isn't great however like others have said the villages in the surrounding arrears are lovely. You aren't far from Lincoln, Doncaster etc for shopping.
