Living in Heworth, York

Hi all, we're on a seemingly endless house hunt and just looking for some feedback from York folk on living in Heworth, as it's one possibility for us but spans quite an area. We've seen some houses on the western side around Heworth Green and the roads off it (e.g. Malton Ave / Irwin Ave), also some in the central part (e.g. Oakland Ave) and then on the eastern side round Ashley Park Rd and Appletree Village (if that still counts as Heworth!). They all have a different feel to them and clearly there's a trade-off between being close to the city centre vs maybe a slightly more peaceful setting further out.

(NB: I'm aware that the boundaries with Burnholme and Tang Hall are quite flexible as far as estate agents are concerned! I've read a lot of comments to the effect that Tang Hall has 'a bit of a reputation' but also that it 'isn't all that bad really' - but I don't think that's really the part we're focusing on anyway.)

If anyone reading is familiar with Heworth, are there any other considerations that you would point out, i.e. pros and cons to each area (amenities, community, crime levels, transport, convenience, whatever else!) that might help us decide where would suit us best?

Thanks in advance!
