Cheltenham, Canterbury or Hedge End (Southampton)

Would you prefer to live in any of these areas for things to do and good transport links? Not looking for anything too quiet but also dislike the rowdiness and pollution of London. I realise these areas are very far apart, but these are areas my budget will stretch to, which sound like nice areas. I work from home, so don't need to commute at present. Any ideas are welcome?

Ooh I'd move to Canterbury in a heartbeat if we weren't stuck where we are for DH's job. It's a lot like York, but nearer to London. Loads to do if you like musea/arts type things and very easy drives to the beaches around there.

I think you should visit Hedge End before putting it on your list. I am not saying it isn’t a nice place to live but it is very different to Canterbury.and Cheltenham.

No to hedge end, sorry but it's just an extension of Southampton with zero soul

Sounds good, Im not really an arty museum type (there's nothing wrong with that, it's just not me), im more into pubs/bars/horse-riding, shopping and fitness :)
