Hi. We're thinking about moving to Herne Hill/North Dulwich and are wondering what Charter is like? Would really welcome opinions, views, advice...

Got quite a good name with the middle class parents who aren't sending darling jago to one of the private schools!
I'm not sure about catchment area, but I'm sure any of the roads nearby must be in catchment. We live in East Dulwich and plenty of kids are to be seen walking to / from Charter.
How old are your DC? If they are school age, you may struggle to get them into Dulwich village infants/ Hamlet - they are very oversubscribed. And you probably won't want to send them to Bessemer!

Thanks for responding! Kids are already at primary in brixton, and happy, but we are thinking about the next stage - dont want to do private but think we'll have to move for state. I've heard good things about charter but it feels like a drastic thing to do, moving house for a school. where are yours, if at that stage yet?

My dd is there (Y8) and my ds will be going next year. We're very happy with it. It's a comp and therefore mixed ability, gender and intake so you need to be OK with that. I feel very lucky that my two can go to a good state school that is local. Charter has a nice ethos.

Thanks for that, redpanda. We've now been to have a look round the school and really liked the look of it; seemed to have a good community atmosphere, with lots of nice-seeming kids around. Thanks for your views...

Just to bump it up that I have two at The Charter (17 and nearly 14) and they have enjoyed their time and done well so far.

I have no hesitation in sending my 11 year old there in September.
