I have just moved to Bristol with my young family and we are taking a rental in Westbury-on-Trym, within the catchment for Elmlea school. We had previously hoped to be in Bishopston so researched/visited all the schools in that vicinity, but we weren’t able to find a family home on-budget in the end. As such, I missed the open days for Elmlea school and they won’t let me see it now before I apply for my daughter to start Reception in September.
I know it has an outstanding reputation but I’m slightly concerned that this could be a result of academia > fun. Does anyone have any inside knowledge on the school and it’s ethos? What about their outdoor space, focus on nature, forest school etc?
For reference - the alternative option will be Henleaze, which we are due to see at the open day this week. On paper I like the sound of Henleaze, possibly a little more “organic” than Elmlea? But, this is just on paper.
Any insights hugely appreciated!
