Council housing

Just wanted to know if anyone has been through staying in temp accommodation to get a council house and how long it can roughly take, I just want my baby girl settled in her own home we're alone for Christmas and I'm in such a dark place right now :(

Im commenting a bit late but it all depends what area you’re in to how long it’ll take councils in london can have around 600 people bidding for properties so it can take a very long time even if you’re in temp accommodation where as my council in hertfordshire is a bit easier to get a property as the most amount of bids we get for properties is around 150 a lot less then most areas. I was in a similar situation to you…I have a 2 year old we’re currently living at my mums but very over crowded and at risk of being homeless so could’ve ended up in temp accommodation I’m top band and luckily I’ve managed to get a property this month just waiting to move in for me it took a few months but that’s only because I waited for the right property in the right area to come out. I can’t say how long it’ll take for you but I know if you were under my council in East Hertfordshire you’d be top priority as you’re basically homeless so you’d get a property pretty much straight away hope it won’t take you too long all the best x

@Megan000 thank you for your reply, I'm in West Yorkshire and the most I've seen the bids go upto is around 70, and my position is always changing but I think that's down to people who have been in my position longer than me.. hopefully should be sorted soon and hope you are too! Thank you x

I've been offered a 2 bed flat for me and my baby and it hasn't even been 2 months that I've had to stay in temp accommodation. I'm so happy.. just for everyone to know stay patient and strong and everything will fall into place 💕
