Anyone know Sale in Manchester?

Hi, we're considering a move to Sale, or possibly Altrincham.

Does anyone know the areas at all? Is Sale nice? Good for families with young children? Is the area safe would you say? I've looked at the crime stats but GMP say their systems are broken so the data isn't up to date.

Any insight into Sale would be greatly appreciated!

Yep, both are nice and good for families. Lots of family friendly restaurants etc, near the water parks (dog walks and nature trails, not inflatable rings!) and a proportion of good grammar schools too.

Good tram links but traffic can be busy.

Altrincham is a bit trendier and you pay the extra for that.

It's quite nice, yeah. quite a few good bars and restaurants, Good motorway links, not hard to get into Manchester on the tram.

Altrincham is AMAZING but massively Tory.

It's nice, but suburban nice rather than fashionable-nice IYSWIM. Quick on the team to town so good for commuting. It has selective education, so you'll need to be ok with that, bearing in mind that means being ok with secondary moderns as well as grammar schools.
