Love to have feedback on this school? Is it good for able boys, in terms of academic extending, etc? Good pastoral support?

Also, I heard their is a religious affiliation, wondered how strong this is?

Very grateful to hear view from fellow parents 🙂

More academic than state but quite gentle compared to some other local indies.

Pastoral ethos is great, although the practice hasn't been as strong as it used to be under current head. He is leaving at end of year so hopefully that might change again.

It is catholic although quite gentle and more about ethos than indoctrination, lots of non catholics attend and are happy.

The history and ethos of the school are wonderful. Hopefully the governors choose a good head to bring the school forward.

New head has been announced, great news for school, can wholeheartedly recommend now.

@BelleandSebastion Why do you say so? I visited the website and its the same head. Seeking more info as I am trying to choose between Donhead and Shrewsbury house

Only saw this, sorry!

We have now left the school but I know that the current head is leaving and a teacher who has left is coming back in January 2024 to be head. The current head stayed 6 years and is returning to his old school in Windsor as head. He was not overly popular with parents certainly not in my DS year group. His predecessor was much loved and a very hard act to follow.! My DS had the new head as a teacher and she was wonderful. She won’t have taught any current students (as she was a year 5 teacher and left a couple of years back) but the wider school community is delighted that she is returning.

You have probably made a decision already. Happy to help more if not.

I would guess that they are very different schools. From talking to parents in our new school who had DS there it probably would have been better for my DS but we never considered it due to commute.
