how to turn right at this junction?

I'm visiting Lichfield in a couple of weeks and I think Bird St car park looks quite central and I like street car parks better than multi-storeys. But google mapping my journey brings me to this junction and tells me to turn right. Can I really do that? It doesn't look like you are supposed to turn right, though there are no signs saying not to. But the road markings look like you have to keep going on Swan Road. Any advice? And is Bird St car park a good one?

(though the white van in the google maps looks like he might have turned right, but I'm not sure I'd trust white van drivers!)

Signal right and turn when it's safe to do so. The road is quite narrow so there isn't a room for a turning box.

Yes you can and it's a nice car park with loos :)

Just turn right before the little island with the arrow on it.

tirednewmumm · 21/10/2022 19:47

Im not sure why you wouldn't it looks like a fairly normal junction so should be fine

akabluebell · 21/10/2022 19:48

Turn right before the keep left bollard.

I'd say follow that white van with ladders on top.

thenightsky · 21/10/2022 19:53

street view it from the other direction (leaving the car park) and it looks like that's the proper way to go... where the white van has gone.

mummyh2016 · 21/10/2022 19:53

You can turn.
Bird Street does get busy though depending on when you're visiting so I'd maybe have a backup just in case you can't get a space.

It is a busy car park so you may struggle to get a space.

Alternative but is long stay is the University car park or Gresley Row. Avoid Three Spires private car park frequent moans about fines being issued when people have paid.

Thanks everyone.

The reason I thought maybe you couldn't is that the dotted line gets much longer at that point, and the hatched area gets bigger, plus there doesn't look like there would be a lot of room before the pedestrian crossing if there was also a steady stream of cars coming from that direction. I'm not a hugely confident driver yet, so I always google some of the junctions first just to make sure I know where I'm going

I'll check out the other car parks and have a few backups planned just in case. I think I will be arriving quite early so hopefully will be ok
