Hi Becca - I am due at the end of June this year and live in Islington (Essex Road area). Its my first baby, what about you? Rachael.

beccablum · 30/01/2008 09:43

Hi Rachael - yeah, it is my first too. I am so excited. In last few weeks have felt the baby moving around really vigorously. It's the most amazing feeling. We're going to move out of London soon after the birth, but stay here until the birth so don't interrupt ante-natal care (we are at UCH), and so I can continue to work right up until birth and get max-maternity leave! How about you? You must be 19 weeks now? Have yo felt the baby move yet? Becca x

Hi, I cant wait to feel it moving around, at the moment i have a feeling of having bubbles in my belly! Very odd! I am thinking of working until 4/5 weeks before. Although i dont have far to travel to work (Regent Street) i think i might like some time to sort everything out before the big day (plus my enthusiasum for work is already dwindling!! who knows what i will be like nearer the time!opps!).
We have our 20 week scan next week and then we have treated ourselves to a 2 week holiday!! (likely to be the last one for a while!!) Can't wait. How are you finding shopping for maternity clothes? i have got a few bits but am struggling to find many things that i actually like xx

beccablum · 01/02/2008 08:33

Hi Rachael - am going to work up to 10 days before due date, as need money and want to get max out of maternity leave! I can often work from home though, and expect to in last few weeks. The 20wk scan is fab. Take lots of cash for priceless photos. Where you going on holiday? We've just booked a 2 weeker, but at end of April, which is just 1 month before due date - risky? We're going by train down to relative's villa in north Spain. I was really lucky as just started needing maternity clothes as Jan sales kicked in! I got fab bargains. Liked H&M and M&S stuff mainly, for work wear. Mothercare is over priced. Also got great stuff on eBay. And friends gave me some bits and bobs. Better get off to work - see ya, x

Hi, we are off to the Bahamas!!Seriously can't wait... 2 weeks of pure relaxation. Just counting the days now. We are planning on getting married end of 2009 so this is sort of our honey moon... Not sure we will get one once the baby is here!
Ebay has been great for maternity clothes, i just ordered some jeans and tops and they all fitted fabulously... bit worried i might want to stick with the elesticated waist band after having the baby!!! he he!! so comfy! How are you feeling at the moment, everyone keeps telling me this is the best stage, not too tired etc etc... am just feeling very stretched! XX

beccablum · 09/02/2008 10:00

Wow, Bahamas sounds great. I love elasticated waists now as well! I am 24 weeks today, and I feel pretty good. It was so lovely to lose the sickness and tiredness and get my energy back from 13 weeks onwards. I am starting to feel a little bulky now though which is a first - just kind of harder to roll over in bed etc. I am still running for buses though! Am off to a yoga class in a bit. Meant to ask, are you having yours at UCH? We are having an assessment for a home birth, but I really want to have a water birth and they have pools at the midwife-led Bloomsbury Birth Centre, and I don't think we would be able to get a pool in our tiny little flat! Also have you booked on antenatal classes at all? We are going to go on the NHS ones, but have also booked a private weekend course with www.pregnancybirthandbeyond.co.uk Hope you're still feeling god, take care, Becca x

Hi - I live in Clapton, 5 mins from Stokey Church Street. Our twins are due May 21st.

Are either of you still checking this thread I wonder ...

Rach08 · 01/04/2008 10:50

Hi

Wow twins!! how are you feeling?? I am due at the end of June and living just off Essex Road, between Angel and Highbury & Islington.

All going reasonably well so far, although seem to be getting more and more tired each week.

Hi Racheal

I am getting to know my sofa rather intimately. Started maternity leave 3 weeks earlier than expected after my batteries just stopped recharging. I'd be doing one day at work and then sleeping the next two!

How many weeks are you then? I'm 33 weeks today so you must be 28-ish?

DO you know what you're having?

Pazza x

Rach08 · 06/04/2008 21:36

Hi Pazza

I am now a little over 28 weeks, we are having a boy! very excited. Do you know the sex of your twins or are you keeping it a surprise?

I bet you must be knackered! i start my maternity leave in about five and half weeks (mid may) and seriously cant wait! Seem to spend most of my work day trying to get away with looking on the internet for baby stuff.. opps!!

How have your antenatal classes been? mine start this week.

Rachael x

PazzaPlusTwo · 09/04/2008 14:10

Hi Rachael

We're having two girls! I can't wait.

Yes I am knackered - was given iron pills by the doc yesterday which hopefully will help.

I did the hospital antenatals which were useful, especially the tour of the ward. Not much I hadn't read about beforehand, but useful to have a real midwife explaining it all, and explaining how they do things at the hospital.

Are you hospital or homebirth? If hospital, which one? I'm at Homerton - wanted a homebirth but with twins I prefer hospital and Homerton is very good for twins and preemies, just in case.

Lolis · 11/04/2008 16:37

Hi girls,

I'm not due til November, but I live just off Essex Road (near the butcher and fishmonger). Expecting my first. Hoping to meet some other new Mums when the time comes!

I'm hoping for a homebirth or at least birthing centre, but haven't talked to a midwife about it yet.

Good luck for the births!

Rach08 · 11/04/2008 16:43

Hey

We are attending antenatal classes through an independent group run in Stoke Newington as we didnt manage to get a place on the NCT run classes. But all has been great so far.

Having a hospital birth at St Mary's Paddington. We had a tour a few months ago now, a bit scary to see all the equipment but great to actually get a chance to see everything and where we would be going etc etc.

Are you nervous at all? I have been fine until recently and now with all the equipment arriving at the flat and the classes starting it suddenly doesnt seem that far away! eck!

Have you decided on any names yet? We have a short list and will decide once he is born, in case he really doesnt suit the first name we picked!!

Rachael x

PazzaPlusTwo · 14/04/2008 12:41

Hi Rach and hi Lolis!

Yes I am quite nervous , it could really happen any time now. I have tried not worrying, but now I am getting used to the idea that yes I am going to be nervous but I'll have DH and doula with me all the way and a great hospital who deliver twins all the time. Or trying not to think about it, since there's nothing more I can do to prepare myself!

I still don't know whether I will be having a C-section or vaginal birth - depends if twin 1 wants to turn over or not. I am not that bothered either way though.

We also have a shortlist of names - well I have a shortlist of about 15 but DH only likes one of them, and it's not one of my faves! I definitely think it's a good idea to see what comes out and then pick the name.

Stay in touch ... and Lolis I hope your pregnancy goes really well

Msita · 06/06/2008 10:29

Hello ladies,

You must be all busy with your babies now or at least very near the end.

I live just off Essex Rd too - near Northchurch Rd and I'm due in mid-July. Maybe we could have an Essex Rd new mums meet-up?
