What is an E-act academy school, how is it different from other schools?

Hi Mums,

We are planning to move to Denham and heard about the school "Denham green E-act academy".
Can someone advise what is an E-act academy school and how is it different from a state school?
Do they follow a different curriculum?

E act is a chain of academies. They follow the National Curriculum and do SATS. They are state schools but they are not controlled by the local authority so they will do their own admissions and may have different dates for half term holidays etc
