Hi there
I am moving to Enfield in the next couple of months and we are looking at Matlby drive EN1 and really need some advice and tips about the area . Hope you can help us. I have 2 little boys so just wondering is the area a nice and safe for a young family and also what would you recommend about primary school ?. Around us we have Enfield academy heights(EN3) it has an outstanding rate but according to other posts in here then EN3 is not a great area for kids then we have Wroschester (en2) and Eastfield primary school (en3), forty hill c of e (en1). please let me know your thoughts. Thank you so much

My ex was a pc in Enfield and we had friends that lived there. I wouldn't move there.

Thank you very much for your reply. So would you say in general the whole borough is not that great at all and there is no difference in all areas in the borough? and I also looking at Barnet - just next to there, would you have any ideas too? thank you

Not sure on Barnet. And I don't know which areas are considered nicer. I just remember the tales my ex used to tell me!

Hi OP. I live in Enfield, in EN2. I definitely wouldn’t say the whole borough is a dangerous/unpleasant place to live - my part certainly isn’t - but it is a very divided and unequal borough, and extremely deprived in parts. My little area of Enfield is green and leafy and pretty safe, but that’s reflected in the house prices, which are much more expensive than some of the areas you mention.

I don’t know the area you’re looking at all that well, but I used to teach in primary schools locally and am aware of most of the schools. Enfield Heights Academy has a good reputation and is oversubscribed, but I’d agree that EN3 isn’t the nicest area of the borough, as the local area feels very ‘urban’ and has lots of issues with crime and antisocial behaviour.

Eastfield I don’t know at all, and Worcesters I’d describe as a school that does good things in quite a challenging area - it gets good results despite being in a tough location, drawing a big chunk of its intake from some huge tower blocks near the school. Forty Hill is much smaller and more ‘villagey’, with a more middle class intake. it feels quite cut off though, and you’d definitely need to drive there as it’s tricky to get there on foot or by public transport.

Good luck with your move and do feel free to ask if you have any more questions about the area.
