Hi,

I am new to this site and new to pregancy, I am 10 weeks with my first baby and wanted to know a couple of things. Firstly, does anyone know of any exercise classes around beckenham or bromley areas?
Secondly, I am quite unnerved by the fact that i have hardly any information from my GP or Beckneham hospital or anyone! The info I have found is from websites such as these!

I have my first scan booked in on the 21st Jan but thats at Kings college as its to carry out the tests for downs syndrome? has anyone else been sent there? and my booking appointment has finally come through for the 25th Jan but thats at Beckenham hospital, but I have chosen to give birth at Princess Royal hospital (PRUH). Has anyone else been sent all over the place and can give me any advice about what to expect at the appointments?

Also (sorry I am going on a bit now!) has anyone been to the antenatal classes at the PRUH that run on the 1st Tuesday eveing of every month?!

Thank you all in advance!

Hi Belisa

I also felt a bit in the dark when I first fell pregnant so I know how you feel! Don't know of any exercise classes, basically cos I have felt ill pretty much non stop since falling pregnant with one thing or another - therefore no energy to even think about exercise besides my walk to the station!

My 1st scan was at Kings College as well (I'm in Orpington and also having baby at Princess Royal). You go to Kings College cos they offer the Nuchal scan there - and you will be glad to go there as they are supposed to be the best in the country - the main chap of the unit is the person who invented the scan! And apparently all the technicans train under him - so you know you are getting the best! When I had my appointment there, I got there early and was seen early, despite the fact I thought I would have to wait ages cos the waiting room was jammed! The Dr/technican and nurse were all so lovely and so excited for us - despite the fact they see hundreds of pregnant woman every week! They printed off 7 pictures for us and really made it very special for us seeing our baby for the 1st time.

As for the antenatal classes that run the 1st Tuesday of every month - I'm not sure about that? I thought it was a chance for you to meet groups like Bromley Real Nappies, Doulas (sp?), Bromley Council car seat people, etc. Anyway that's what was going on there when we went. And we only went cos I don't want to go the NCT route as we are already forking out quite a lot on hypnobirthing and don't have the money for NCT as well. I went to find out about free antenatal classes as I was told there was no space at the hospital when I went for my initial hospital midwife appointment. Was told by a really lovely midwife at the Tuesday night thing that she would try find me a space and the very next day she rang to tell me she had. So well worth going!

Anyway now it's me that's rambling on..

Hope at least some of this has helped!

Belisa - Try Rosemary Conley classes for information/exercise. Their instructors are trained regularly. Although I would recommend only to do the same level of activity as you were before you were pg.

I stopped going when I was about 5 months pg.
