Hi all!
I'm new to mumsnet and thought I would see if there is anyone from Chatham?
I am a stay at home mum, daughter Olivia aged 1, looking for other mummies to potentially meet up with!!

Hello and welcome!

I'm in Chatham, near Toys R Us!! Whereabouts are you?

I have a 5 week old DD

livviesmummy · 09/01/2008 09:33

Hey RGPargy... congrats on the birth of your DD... what date was she born?! My LO turned 1 on 15th December!

I'm down nearer the town centre... off of Palmerston Road if you know it?!

OP posts:
RGPargy · 09/01/2008 11:09

Thanx! She was born on 5th December and i have a DS who's 17!!.

I know Palmerston Road. Are you Medway born and bred or have you moved here from somewhere else?

livviesmummy · 09/01/2008 13:11

Aww cute! just in time for crimbo!

I have lived in Medway since I was 3! My mum and I moved here to be with my dad (essentially stepdad but he's all I've ever known) from Folkestone. I lived in Walderslade until a few years ago when I moved in with my DP!

So.. a newborn and a 17yr old, thats a handful! My bro is 18, I know what lads of that age are like!! He's very good with my dd though!

How are you finding motherhood this time around?

OP posts:
RGPargy · 09/01/2008 13:48

Ah cool! I used to live in Walderslade when DS was young, just up from the Alexander.

Newborn and teenager isn't so bad really. DS is often out and about so i dont have to think about him really lol but he adores his little sister.

Motherhood this time round is wonderful! So different from when i had DS!

How are you enjoying motherhood? I bet your DD keeps you on your toes?!

livviesmummy · 09/01/2008 14:36

Glad you are enjoying motherhood!! I think it is the best thing EVER!!

My DD is definitely getting independent!! She crawls like a loon, pulls herself up (and falls down!) from everything... and has the bruises to prove it!! She also has right hissy fits if she doesnt get her own way, ans seems to be learning something new every 5 minutes!!

Hows your little one? Enjoying the sleepless nights lol!!

OP posts:
RGPargy · 09/01/2008 15:22

Awww i remember that stage! It's hard work isn't it - and i've got it all to come (again!).

Ellie is a little treasure. She's so cute and she just melts both DP and I. She's a quiet little thing at the moment and slowly but surely we think we're conquering the colic! Lately the sleepless nights aren't too unbearable as she's not screaming with pain from colic now, thankfully. Still wakes 2 times a night, but it's do-able as long as she's quiet lol.

Did you work before you had your DD? Do you work now?

livviesmummy · 09/01/2008 15:27

Colic.... oh god what a NIGHTMARE!! Livvie had it for nearly 3 months.. we used Infacol.. its such a godsend, in fact, we still have some in the cupboard - I best check the expiration date!!

Ellie.. thats such a cute name, in fact its the name of one of my closest friends! Hopefully she'll start to sleep through for you in another month or so

I used to work as an office manager for an engineering-type company before I had Livvie. I went back when she was 6 months, but for 2 days a week as a sales and marketing bod. It wasnt really working out though, as DP was using his only day off each week to have Livvie and we werent getting enough family time together! So now I'm a penny-pinching SAHM instead!

I saw on your profile you DJ.. that is totally wicked! Anywhere round here, or London clubs?

OP posts:
RGPargy · 09/01/2008 16:23

Yeah, never thought i'd get a colicky baby TWICE!!! DS was terrible with it! I did buy some Infacol but was just using it willy nilly when she was in pain and not how you're supposed to use it. But it came to the crunch the other day and now i am using it religiously at every feed and by the book too (i.e. before feeds!) and it's improved things alot.

Office manager, eh? Nice! Not sure i'd like the sales and marketing side of things tho. I'm on maternity leave at the moment, but normally i'm a legal secretary. I plan to go back in August but only 2 days a week.

Yeah i dabble in the DJ world! I play all over the place - basically anywhere that books me to play! I've played all over, in London, Bristol, Doncaster, Southampton etc etc. Also play on the internet too, but that's on hold at the mo until i'm up to it again.

livviesmummy · 09/01/2008 16:34

Twice!! Oh god, thats enough to put anyone off any more!!

Office manager.. I should have put cum-dogsbody! The company wasnt bad and there were a lot of perks, but my job wasnt the most interesting! What they dont know is that the girl that they got in to replace me plans to have a baby of her own in the not too distant! haha, can't wait to see their faces when she tells them that one!! (its a company thats 99% men!) 2 days a week is a nice balance of work-family I think. Will Ellie be going into Nursery?

Do you DJ @ wedding perchance?!

OP posts:
RGPargy · 09/01/2008 17:00

Yeah DP and I were going to go for a second DC (teenage DS isn't his) but after all this colic we (he ) is not so sure!! I'm sure i'll talk him round tho - after all, we've discovered all the jollop that takes teh pain away so we should be ok.

Ah men that run the work place is a tough one isn't it. My place aren't that bad as it goes. They're really flexible and they have loads of part timers there, which is great for people like me who want to just come back for a couple of days. Ellie will be going to her nanna so that's a huge relief. I remember the childcare nightmare with DS! Thankfully wont be going through that again with her!

DJ at weddings? Only if you want to clear the room!! Nah seriously, i just play hard dance music so the music is not at all wedding-esque!!! Sorry!

livviesmummy · 09/01/2008 18:01

ah dammit and there was me thinking I wouldnt have to put a pin in the yellow pages to find my wedding dj! dance would be ok by me, but I doubt the olds would be impressed!!

I've found men can be talked into all sorts after a curry and a few beers!!

your place of work does sound flexible! its all good then, those 2 days at work will be like days "off" for you

OP posts:
RGPargy · 09/01/2008 18:14

lol Yellow Pages it is for you then!! When's your wedding?

Ah yes, the good ol' womanly powers of persuasion. Works every time!

livviesmummy · 09/01/2008 20:03

Oh yeah, its for me!! We're getting married on 8/11/08! We got engaged when I was pregnant and just decided we had better get on with it and get hitched! We're doing it on "the cheap" though, not that its working out that cheap! None of this hotel malarky, when you've got kids you have far better things to spend ya hard earned cash on!!

OP posts:
RGPargy · 09/01/2008 21:01

Fair enough!! Hope it all goes well for you! How exciting!

livviesmummy · 09/01/2008 21:50

It is... just bloody hard work!
Any wedding bells for you and your DP?

So tired, early night for me I think! Luckily Liv went to bed @ 730pm and touch wood she's stayed soundo so I might get a good nights kip!!

OP posts:
RGPargy · 09/01/2008 22:13

Yeah we'll get married eventually, but we want to do it in Oz so we'll need a stack of cash for that. Not likely just yet!!

I'm off to bed too. Hope Olivia stays asleep for you!

N'night!!

xx

livviesmummy · 10/01/2008 08:27

Oz eh, that sounds cool! we did contemplate the married abroad thing but there were too many complications!

Olivia stayed asleep til 730am this morning.. BONUS!!

Hope Ellie gave you a reasonable night!
xx

OP posts:
RGPargy · 10/01/2008 11:37

Morning!

Had a good night last night as far as sleep was concerned! Ellie slept from 9pm and only woke up a couple of times, at 2.45am and then 5.45am. She finally woke lazy mummy up at 9.30am

We are going to register Ellie today at the registry office. Should have done it ages ago but what with Christmas and New Year etc it just didn't happen!

livviesmummy · 10/01/2008 12:35

Glad you got to have a lie in! last week Livvie was getting up at 830am.. sooo nice!!

Enjoy the registration... makes Ellie all "official" lol! We live just around the corner from the registry office which is nice for us!

I was going to go out today, but its so cold and windy I cant be bothered!! Might make a shepherds pie later instead, oh the excitement!

OP posts:
RGPargy · 10/01/2008 12:38

hehe yeah it'll be nice to make her all official at least!

I made a shepherds pie on Monday - it was lovely! I have no idea what to do for dinner tonight tho. I was thinking lasagne but i dont want to do a mince overkill thing, y'know? Time to get Nigella out for a quick read i think!

livviesmummy · 10/01/2008 13:06

I got Jamie at Home for Crimbo 2006... its sat gathering dust!! Jon usually does the cooking in our house... its the division of labour.. I do all the housework and the majority of the child-rearing.. and he cooks!

Lasagna is my fave though so send a portion over!!

OP posts:
RGPargy · 10/01/2008 13:13

Yeah i love lasagne and Shepherds Pie too which is odd because before i was pg, i absolutely HATED mince! I used to like it, then i hated it, and now i like it again. My speciality tho is macaroni cheese. Home made sauce from scratch and everything. Obviously we cant have it too often because it's terrible for the (ever expanding) hips!

RGPargy · 10/01/2008 13:15

Oh and i normally do the cooking because DP is a veggie from birth so i cant expect him to cook meat really, plus he doesn't actually know HOW to cook it so i dont want us poisoned! Now that i'm on mat leave i dont mind cooking coz he goes out to work all day etc etc.

livviesmummy · 10/01/2008 14:00

aww a true stepford wife!! I absolutely LOATHE cooking, a fact which is now causing me no end of grief with Liv. She's always had jars of baby food until now, or finger foods, but now I am trying to give her more adult foods, she turns her nose up at them!

Mac and cheese is yummy! Supposed to be dieting before the wedding, but not off to a good start
