Lunch in London with girlfriends - help please!

Sevensevenone · 30/03/2022 21:40

I haven’t been out with girlfriends since pre kids/pandemic and have a lunch with
4 school friends planned in April. I want to find somewhere spoiling and fun but not ridiculously expensive where we can chill out, catch up and have a memorable time before returning to husbands and children. The only places I can think of are corporate or feel OLD! Probably west end because we are coming to London from different areas. Ideas please?!

Wolseley?

LadyShatterly · 30/03/2022 21:43

Polpo in Soho

PacificState · 30/03/2022 22:35

Circolo Populare in Fitzrovia (just north of Oxford street) is amazing, bit difficult to get tables though. Really nice Italian food, bit pricey, the decor is really fun

Hawksmoor in Air Street (bottom of Regent St) is beautiful Art Deco/early modern, like the best sort of New York bar. Fab service, lovely cocktails, slap-up steak, not cheap but not gasp-inducing either

Houseplantmad · 30/03/2022 22:42

Cafe Zedel in Piccadilly. I'd also second Hasksmoor.

RoseValleyRambles · 30/03/2022 23:23

The Wallace collection does a decently priced afternoon tea, in nice surroundings.

MaitreKarlsson · 30/03/2022 23:27

Delaunay - like Wolseley but easier to book

Vargas · 30/03/2022 23:38

Somewhere near Carnaby street, a restaurant in Kingly court?

MacaroniCheeseCat · 30/03/2022 23:41

I was going to suggest Brasserie Zedel! Or the Wolseley.

Mumdiva99 · 31/03/2022 07:26

I'd grab a cocktail here

www.seacontainerslondon.com/eat-drink/12th-knot/

Then head down here mercatometropolitano.com/

Mumdiva99 · 31/03/2022 07:47

I also enjoy a meal here the set menu is always delicious.

Cafe zedel or hawksmoor. Or Dishoom soho?

erinaceus · 31/03/2022 08:06

Polpo is a good suggestion, as is the Delauny.

soaringswifts · 31/03/2022 08:09

Riding House Cafe or Rail House Cafe

hungrymutha · 31/03/2022 08:11

Madera Tree House!

hungrymutha · 31/03/2022 08:12

Great food, great views! Near to Oxford Circus

Nice cocktails. What more can you ask for

Iwonder08 · 31/03/2022 08:25

Brasserie Zedel is a great idea, they also have an amazing bar in the same building. Alternatively Wolsley. If you can get a booking I would try Chiltern firehouse in Marylebone. It has a nice atmosphere, try outdoor terrace if the weather is good.

PegasusReturns · 31/03/2022 08:27

Restaurant at the standard hotel is good and easy to stay for hours.
Bob Bob Ricard and Cafe Zedel also good but they want you out after meal is over.

PegasusReturns · 31/03/2022 08:28

The Wolsey is not somewhere you can lounge - they turn the tables quickly.

Luredbyapomegranate · 31/03/2022 09:04

Lina Stores in Soho if you like pasta

10 Greek St Soho if you like Pizza

Quo Vadis more expensive but feels more event-y

bob bob ricard expensive but very entertaining

Hawkesmore as PP say if you love steak

I love zedels but only done the budget option myself, so depend if you up for that

ChangeAndHelp · 31/03/2022 09:19

Brasserie Balthazar, just off Covent Garden on the side of the Opera House. They do afternoon tea but also A La Carte menu and they have sea food platters. Plus amazing cocktails!

Another vote for either of these. Zedel easier to get a table. Both fantastic and feel v special.

I was a bit disappointed with Balthazar when I went most recently; I find Zedel and the Wolsey a bit more special.
