Thinking of moving to Peterborough

Would anyone be able to give me any ideas on what it’s like to live in Whittlesey? Is it a good area.
Any recommendations of other areas to consider near there?
Thanks a lot

And just to add is it a diverse area? Moving from London but looking for a friendly community

Whittlesey is 6 miles from Peterborough, so a separate town.
It’s not diverse.

Netherlands78 · 04/03/2022 06:57

Thank you. I had a look and liked the area. Yes it’s not diverse but seemed friendly. Could you dm me more about the area of Whittlesey please ? TIA

I live in Peterborough and only go to Whittlesey occasionally so don’t know it well.
There’s probably a local Facebook group.

Geppili · 04/03/2022 09:29

Expensive.

RunningFromInsanity · 04/03/2022 09:33

Whittlesey is much nicer than Peterborough

Chronicallymothering · 04/03/2022 09:35

Hi there, what are your needs/ budget? Renting or Buying? Primary/ secondary schools, access to London/ A1 etc. I’m not sure Whittlesey would be on my list so trying to figure out why you’ve started there.

Netherlands78 · 04/03/2022 10:20

Unfortunately there isn’t much local groups. And you have to be resident to join. Thanks anyway. Hopefully I will get some more answers. Have a good day

Whittlesey seems really lovely. Do you live there? Could you tell me more if you do?

@Chronicallymothering I am looking to buy. Maybe on the new build development of permission homes. I may have to look for a sixth form but this isn’t set in stone. Otherwise not looking for schools. I drive and can access Peterborough train station. Can I ask why you wouldn’t consider Whittlesey?

I have lived in Whittlesey for quite a long time. It’s a small market town house prices are quite reasonable depending on area. Lots of new builds
Transport links not bad I can be on the A1 in 15 mins or so
Whittlesey is very friendly and I would rate it much better than many areas in Peterborough
Other areas definitely Stamford but pricey
Any questions fire away

Netherlands78 · 04/03/2022 19:19

@rosie1959 I have DM’d you thanks

We were going to buy in whittlesey but decided against it. Having 3 teens, the last bus was at 6 in the evening, so hard to find part time jobs without ferrying them around. Notmuch going on there (apart from Aaron the tattooist lol) although it's nice and quiet, houses seem tk by expensive.
We decided on werrington in the end. Great schools, great bus routes, close enough to everything but far enough to be from the town centre. Everything you need here (tesco, post office lidl etc) the school are good too!

Netherlands78 · 12/04/2022 13:32

@rozee83 thank you for the update. I’m glad you have found werrington best for your circumstances. I will be moving to Whittlesey, I really liked the area. Potentially it may be an up and coming area, who knows. But I liked the countryside feel. Good luck 😉
