New to York - anyone else?

We moved to York at the end of last year and didn’t know a soul! Is anyone else new to the city? How are you finding it? Covid isolation and work patterns have made it tricky to meet many people so far for us, but hoping to start settling in.

Sorry, this is not the reply you'd have been looking for, but just to say I'll be following this post with interest in case anyone responds as we hope to be new to the city/area before long! Would be great to hear of your and others' experiences in due course.

One thing I would say is that it might be worth registering on Nextdoor.co.uk if you haven't already. Good way of finding out what's going on in your neighbourhood and surrounding areas. Sometimes it's just "can anyone recommend a builder?" sort of stuff, but there may also be the odd social thing popping up. Maybe also Facebook if you're on there... there's a "York: What's going on?" group, and a few others that might be of interest.

We’re gradually making inroads, joining in with some community stuff and play dates lined up. Just thought it would be nice if anyone else was new(ish) to meet up.
