Hi all,
We are a family of an Asian background and looking to move to Nottinghamshire to be closer to family. We are thinking of Tuxford or Sutton-on-Trent.
Just wanted to see whether anybody can advise what sort of areas they are? We have 2 children, eldest will start Secondary this September therefore looking to move before that.
Thanks

I don’t know Sutton but I would advise against Tuxford. It’s not very forward thinking and you may find it quite hostile.

Hi @RussianSpy101 Thanks for your response. Do you mind telling me why you think it's not forward thinking? Is it racial issue or more towards not having facilities etc? Thanks 😊

@Lou333 did you move in the end? I live in Tuxford and it seems ok, small town/village life. I dont see a massive diversity of races here, but i doubt thats because it full of racists! Its just a small place, youll be bumping into the same people all the time.
The primary school here is great, my kids liked it when they were there. The secondary school, well, its good, but a bunch of the kids there seem to be not the most pleasant of types.
My eldest got into a fight in her first week there, started in year 9. School didnt alert me, i only knew when she got home. Apparently she looked at someone funny. The instigator was a known horror, and her punishment was non existent.
my other child has gotten shit from people since they started in year 7 and has a kid that stalks them and makes their life a misery. Thats just the tip of the iceberg. They get picked on, they get put in iso, not the bullies, its madness.

School seems more keen on keeping up appearances than protecting students that need it. Its a shame, it seems a great school, but as my kids tell me, full of people that are not very nice at all.

my youngest had their first day there yesterday and i only hope they get on ok. They had nasty remarks from a year 10 during transition week which made him very anxious about starting.
