Basingstoke v's Farnham

Would you choose Farnham or Basingstoke, for a single person with things to do? I saw a flat in Runfold, Farnham which is 15 mins from Guildford but not sure Guildford is that lively?

Hmmm - Farnham is lovely, but very family orientated I'd say. Guildford is also nice, but not that lively (although I am past wild nights out so maybe I don't know!). There is the university so obviously students must go out there. Guildford is handy for getting in to London - only about 40 minutes to Waterloo.

Runfold is a little village sort of in the middle of nowhere though, so you'll need to drive everywhere won't you? Although it's right off the A31 so easy to get lots of places as long as you're happy to drive.

I don't know anything about Basingstoke though! I would imagine it would offer more for a single person, but I don't really know.
