Somewhere like Histon?

Hi!
Looking for somewhere like Histon, ideally on the guided busway or with good public transport into Cambridge, with primary and secondary schools within the village/easy to get to?

Does anywhere like this exist? Thanks!

Why not Histon itself?

Rover83 · 20/12/2021 18:28

How far on the guided bus way? Are you looking for cheaper than Histon?

grainie · 20/12/2021 20:53

@EdithWeston

Histon is great but would like a bit more house for our money than our budget gets us there :-)

Ideally not as far out at St Ives. Would consider the busway stops going south, but don't know the area at all (harston etc)

Nobody knows your budget though.

Have you thought about a website called 'right move'? It shows the houses, the prices, nearby schools and all sorts.

Calm down. Its £450,000, and I was asking for advice about schools - no need to be an asshole

Have a look at Swavesey OP.
There is no southern guided busway it's just a normal bus route.

Snog · 20/12/2021 21:38

Maybe Melbourne which has a train station?

BeckyWithTheGoodHair010101 · 20/12/2021 22:54

Royston? Bit more house for your money there.

BeckyWithTheGoodHair010101 · 20/12/2021 22:55

(Not on guided busway, but does have a train station)

Google maps should sort you out. All you will get is....lists of towns with schools in them. It is literally why estate agents use right move.

Northstowe is on the guided busway nothing like histon though as its a complete new build development.

Westwick is a lovely village on the guided busway but probably similarly priced to histon. There I allegedly going to be lots of building happening between Histon, Cottenham and Oakington. You probably need to be looking further out for more room for your money places like Bar Hill, Cambourne, Swavesey but they are all just on normal bus routes

Did you start an identical thread yesterday op.
If not this is unusually similar. Why not continue on that one? Xmas Confused

Thanks, i might just be being stupid but I can't see Westwick on that route map?

OP posts:
Snog · 22/12/2021 07:18

Because there is no stop at Westwick. Oakington would be the closest stop.

Dollymantra · 22/12/2021 07:26

You would get a 3 bed semi in Queen Ediths, Cherry Hinton and Fulbourn for £450k

Ex council but these are nice areas

Histon is much more expensive than places in cambridge due to the school.

Biscuitsneeded · 09/01/2022 15:31

Go further out to St Ives? It's nice and has a bit more to it...

FreezingToday · 13/02/2022 09:16

Personally if you like Histon, I'd stick out for that! £450,000 isn't a bad budget! That's more than our budget and by buying something oldish in need of some TLC and a bit of new paint, we have been able to buy a 4 bed property in Histon&Impington for under your budget ..

Cottenham isn't too far away from histon and is a bit cheaper if your really can't make the budget work for you, girtons ok too - but I really think 450 k could get you a fairly decent 3- bed property with garden in Histon! If that's what you want ..
