What's it like living in Shrivenham?

Hi, my partner and I are buying a house and we are looking at Shrivenham as a possible location as we need to be close to Wantage and Aldbourne. Can anyone tell me please what it's like living in the village? I see it has a military college and wondered if there are lots of military people coming and going, frequenting pubs etc? Also what sort of community activities are there? We are looking somewhere we can call home for as long as possible. my partner's son is 9 but as he gets to teenage years would also be interested to know what young people do. Many thanks Smile

The military academy there mostly caters to senior officers; there is a small family patch nearby and single accommodation onsite. I was there for six months a few years ago and its not like living in/near a garrison by any stretch of the imagination.

The surrounding villages are lovely, countryside is good, plenty of public transport options, and sandwiched between Swindon and Oxford for shopping/entertainment. I would move back there quite happily.
