Moving to South Croydon

Hi everyone, I've been considering a move to South Croydon. I have 3 kids in nursery and junior schools and it will be a little closer to my work commute. I was wondering how safe/multicultural/friendly this place is? Anything I should look out for, or specific areas to avoid?

Despite its bad reputation South Croydon is very leafy and family oriented (I think), with excellent transport links.

Like most London boroughs it does have a high crime rate and I don't think they have many outstanding schools, so you'll need to pick the area wisely. Why not do some viewings on properties you like after researching the area?
