Best villages around Ely

Hi!
Would love to find a village outside of Ely to move to.
Unfortunately we don't drive, so would need somewhere well connected to Ely by bus. Can anyone advise?

Soham has the train station currently being reinstated, so you could use the train as well as the bus to get to Ely?

It's not the greatest place to rely on public transport to be honest! But yes, Soham is getting a trainline soon (next year I think) and there are buses, also maybe Fordham or Witchford? I know a few people priced out of Ely have gone for Littleport too. Often the thing with buses is that they don't run much into the evening and don't do Sundays.

Littleport. Soham is no good as the bus service is terrible.

Thanks, this is really helpful!
Is Soham a nice place to live?

Thanks! Would you say those two are the best connected to Ely? Are there buses enough to get to Ely in the mornings for work, say?

Definitely wouldn’t chose to live in Littleport, or Soham tbh

Little Downham maybe?

Waterbeach is nice and connected by train.

I quite like Soham actually, quite a bit of community stuff going on, nice places to walk, some good places to eat and useful shops (Asda and Co-op for food).

I think those are as connected as you'd get really, I would have a look at journey planners to see the details but for either Soham or Littleport you could get to Ely for work in the morning (bus from Soham, train from Littleport). It's just that there's about one bus/train an hour so you may end up waiting around before/after.
