SE13 Primary no man’s land

Hi, all - forgive me for a primary admissions post but I feel like I’ve trawled enough past posts and plotted enough points on maps by myself to feel like I’ve earned the right to seek more advice.

My current position is I live on Manor Park between Northbrook Road and Lee High Road and I’m getting increasingly nervous as my son’s applications will begin this time next year but based on this year’s “furthest offered places” he wouldn’t have been given a place to any of the Brindishes, nor John Ball.

In the case of two or three of those schools, our house seems to be a matter of single-digit meters away from being offered a place so I guess my question is, if I were to apply for and accept an alternative “sure fire” bet and get on the waiting list for one or several of the ones I mentioned above, how likely are the waiting lists to move between the offers and the September to give me a good chance getting one of the preferences?

And as a bonus question: does anyone have any recommendations for non-faith schools in the area which I’d be guaranteed a place in from where I am?

Thank you very much I’m advance
